Transit College of Engineering, Mining and Environmental Science, located at Plot 4, Peace Lane, Bumbuna, Northern Sierra Leone was established in 2020.  Transit has acquired 210 acres of land on which put its facilities.  It has eight schools and two academic departments.

Purpose for establishing the College

At the time Sierra Leone gained independence, the country had one of the best educational system in Africa.  But after independence, the long period of wars got its effect of the system.  Interacting with some employers and other stakeholders, it is evident that the educational programs are not delivering as expected.  The employers cited lack of skills in the new graduates.  It is for this reason that Transit College was established to fill the gap.

The objective of establishing Transit College is to educate students in technical skills, engineering, science and technology, management and theology in preparation for careers of professional practices, civic impact and leadership anchored by fairness, merit and commitment to active life-long learning.
